All aboard the Hannah Belle!
It was a beautiful summer day for a ride to Fort Phoenix. This State Reservation, a small Massachusetts state park on Buzzards Bay in the town of Fairhaven, combines historic features, scenic views and a variety of recreational facilities. Minutes from downtown New Bedford, the park contains a half-mile of Buzzards Bay beachfront. Adjacent to the park is Fort Phoenix, a national landmark Fort which gives the park its name. From the ramparts remnants, one can gaze across the bay where the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought, to the rolling meadows of the Elizabeth Islands.
The Residents enjoyed the warm sunshine and the ocean breeze at a picnic at the beach. CNA, Linda Tripalone, ensured everyone had their SPF prior to departing and the Dietary team prepared a wonderful packed lunch, including delicious homemade cookies. Activities staff set up picnic tables and chairs so our Residents could dine by the ocean in style!
There is nothing more enjoyable than lunch by the Bay watching the boats sail by! A few took a walk up to the top to see the spectacular views and the old war cannons. We all can't wait for the next trip!
